Hemorrhoids during Pregnancy

Pregnant women are highly susceptible to hemorrhoids and need a fast, safe hemorrhoid treatment. Hemorrhoids in pregnancy can be caused by the pressure of the fetus on the woman’s digestive system, hormonal changes, constipation and can even occur during the strain of natural childbirth. Since pregnant women should avoid laxatives, the alternative hemorrhoid treatment, which alleviates constipation is to increase the consumption of fiber by adding cellulose to food. These supplements are available in pharmacies and health stores. A witch hazel compress is safe to use on the affected area and taking the correct dosage of prenatal vitamins will also help to heal hemorrhoids. Although pregnancy often makes the woman tired, resulting in long periods of sitting, daily exercise is still encouraged. Even short walks of no more than 5-10 minutes at a time will aid digestion and alleviate hemorrhoid-aggravate constipation. Pregnant women suffering with hemorrhoids should always consult a doctor before trying any home remedy hemorrhoid treatments as even herbal remedies can have unwanted side effects on the fetus.
